Stalnaker Energy works extensively in natural gas storage fields.  Our crews were tasked with locating and mapping plugged and abandoned wells in all of Dominion Energy’s storage fields in north central West Virginia.  Our crews also work on top joint change out projects, performing containment, site build, rig work, and reclamation.  We also have employees trained and certified for carbon fiber patch preparation and installation.

Protecting the environment during oil and gas operations is a major priority for the industry. Before the drilling of an oil and gas well or many other activities, potential environmental concerns must be addressed. Issues such as lost drilling fluids or spills associated with the drilling, fracturing, and production of oil and gas wells must be contained and prevented from contacting and contaminating the soil or water sources.

For drilling and fracturing operations, the standard industry practice is to construct a barrier system around the entire site in order to completely contain all activities. This is accomplished by installing the primary containment system consisting of HDPE plastic sheeting. Foam berms are constructed at the edges of the plastic to keep spills inside the containment system. In addition, a secondary containment system consisting of duck ponds constructed of the same HDPE plastic sheeting and foam berms are placed under all equipment and vehicles to contain fluids such as motor oil or hydraulic fluid.

Once the well has been drilled and completed and enters the production phase, all produced fluids are stored in a tank battery. Secondary containment is installed around these tank batteries to protect the environment in the event of a tank failure. Stalnaker Energy uses a steel berm system constructed around the tank battery which is then sealed with a sprayed polyurea liner.

Stalnaker Energy is highly experienced in the plugging of oil and gas wells.  We offer a full-service package that includes the development of the plugging procedure, permitting, site construction, containment, plugging and abandonment, reclamation, site supervision, and consulting.  We are experienced with plugging conventional, storage, GOB, and horizontal Marcellus wells.  Our crews on site have over 100 years of combined experience in the plugging of oil and gas wells.  Our plugging clients include Antero Resources, CNX Resources, Arsenal Resources, and Dominion Energy.

Stalnaker Energy offers a variety of reclamation services.  Their highly-skilled equipment operators can perform all final grade work on your site.  We offer hydroseeding, as well as dry seeding and mulch.  On steep slopes, our crews can also perform slope stabilization and slope mat installation.
